Start with the documents almost every route checks
Most Saudi visa preparation starts with a passport, a recent passport-style photo, contact details, and accurate application information. That sounds basic, but this is where many weak files start: wrong name order, old passport scans, cropped photos, or travel dates that do not match the intended route.
Your passport should be valid for the required period for the visa route you are using. Many Saudi tourist eVisa references mention six months of passport validity, but rules can vary by nationality, reciprocity, and visa category. Treat passport validity as a rule to verify before submission, not something to guess.
Prepare application details before uploading anything
Write the applicant name exactly as it appears in the passport. Check passport number, date of birth, nationality, place of issue, and expiration date before the file is submitted. A typo can become more expensive than the original service fee if the application cannot be changed after submission.
You should also have the purpose of travel ready: tourism, family visit, event travel, business-related travel support, or Umrah outside Hajj season where allowed by the relevant visa route. Do not force the wrong purpose into the application just because it feels faster.
Know when family documents may matter
For children, common supporting documents can include a passport copy, photo, birth certificate, and parent or guardian information. Some cases may ask for additional relationship evidence, consent, or parent application details. The safest approach is to review the child file as a separate checklist instead of assuming it is identical to an adult file.
If multiple family members are traveling together, keep names, passport numbers, and dates organized in one place. Small inconsistencies across family applications create avoidable follow-up.
Use tracked shipping for original documents
If a stamped-visa or document-handling path requires original paperwork, use FedEx, UPS, or another tracked shipping method and keep the tracking number until everything is returned. Include the return label exactly as requested. Mailing original passports without tracking is reckless.
For eVisa-style paths, document copies may be enough. The key is knowing the correct route before you send anything.
